Hi everyone,

Just a few updates for you. Please click the email linked above if you would like the links to the documents.

MOU

We have a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). As a reminder, an MOU is a temporary alteration to the contract. This MOU is for Shift Pickup, it will replace the last shift pickup MOU (40% + $15/hr) starting 10/10/21. This MOU is so much easier to understand than the last! Simple language, no calculations.

As a reminder: The shift extension MOU is still double time.

What We’ve Been Up To

About 2 weeks ago, the Local 17 Officers met with our new Chief Nursing Officer (Beth Hock) and management to discuss the hospital’s situation. The officers in attendance took the opportunity to voice concerns about the team nursing model, potential crisis mode, elective surgery cancellation, and RN retention concerns.

Beth actively listened to our concerns and asked for thoughts and suggestions. We implored administration to consider better incentives to help us retain our amazing RNs. We asked administration to continue to cancel elective surgeries to decrease the burden on the floor.

We had a follow up meeting with administration that was cancelled multiple times (by them) for “time constraints.” We have yet to meet with them again, but they came forward with this new MOU on Monday.

Professional Conference Committee is Coming Up

PCC is next Wednesday, October 13th @ 0730. Meeting link info is found under the meetings tab of this website.

Please try to join if you can make it! This is a great way to stay updated on what your union officers and administration are discussing.

As a reminder, if you have filled out an Assignment Despite Objection (ADO), please try to attend PCC. It is helpful when RNs can speak to the situation in their ADO.

HR Updates, Changes to Benefits

We’ve been notified by HR that there are a few changes coming with open enrollment.

How Are You?

We’re advocating for you on a daily basis, even though you don’t always see or hear about it. Please let us know what you need. We are always here to listen and help in any way we can. Thank you for continuing to show up every day.

In Solidarity,

Your MNA Officers
