How We Help
There are many ways your union can offer you and your fellow nurses support. Here are a few common tasks your Local 17 Chapter is responsible for:
Collective Bargaining
The 2024 Collective Bargaining Team
Front row from left: Robin Haux(MNA labor rep), Leslie Shepherd(MNA labor rep), Lynnette Cross(4s, Vice President), Cassidy Dillon(FMC, Media Officer ), Kate Marmorato(RP, Co-president), Kelci Apland(ED), Emily Peterson (MNA Labor rep).
Back row from left: Jeff Notar(ICU,Co-president), Casey Wilcox(OR, Treasurer), Cindy Geiges(CDU, Media officer), Tyler Mink(5s, Secretary), Anne Wright(5N), Julie Jezierski(CVL/OU), Nate McConnell(lawyer).
Upon the expiration of every contract, a collective bargaining team is nominated and elected by you, the Local 17 RNs.
Assignment Despite Objection (ADO)
ADO is a form used to document any unsafe conditions for your or your patients. Completing an ADO form helps make the problem known to management and creates an opportunity for the problem to be reviewed and addressed at Professional Conference Committee (PCC). Plan to attend PCC to discuss it if you submit one!
ADOs document the facts, which may be helpful to you later if there is a negative outcome.
*Updated location for these forms- you can now print them from WebformImprint(forms fast) at the hospital! Please follow the instructions on the form to ensure all parties get a copy! (to include your union officers)
Grievances
Grievances are documents that are presented to St. Patrick Hospital’s administration when there has been a breach in the contract. This can be any part of the contract where the language is violated.
When a grievance is filed, your MNA Labor Representative and a Local 17 Officer (or Unit Representative) become involved. They are with you throughout the entire process.
The goal of a grievance is to work with administration to address or reconcile the issue, and restore the contract language’s integrity.
