New MOU and February PCC Minutes
The Extra Shift Incentive Has Increased to $550 for NOC Shift!
As a reminder, an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) is a temporary alteration or addition to our current contract’s language.
Please look it over, as some of the language has changed (for the better!).
Your voices are working! Admin is starting to understand that retention of our nurses—especially our night shift—is crucial. They agreed to increase the extra shift incentive from $450 to $550 for those willing to pick up an extra night shift. Some points to pay attention to:
This increase is for 12 hour night shifts only. The other differentials stay the same.
Instead of being required to work your full bid in a pay period to get the incentive, the language has changed so you must only work all of your schedule shifts within that week (Sunday-Saturday).
Unfortunately, the requirements for per diem have not changed (must work a 0.6 equivalent in a pay period).
You are agreeing to float to another floor for the extra shift if your regular dept. does not have the need.
We Are Negotiating 2 Other MOUs
There are two MOUs that administration proposed to us. One is related to “helper RN” staffing, and the other is an incentive to temporarily bring day RNs to nocs to help with the skill mix. We made some counters and asked for clarifications in the language, as we had some concerns. We had a meeting with your unit reps as well to keep them in the loop (Can’t remember who your unit rep is? Here’s the most up-to-date list).
PCC Minutes
Here is the actual document for the minutes.
Assignment Despite Objection (ADOs)
We went over quite a few ADOs, and y’all showed up! We are SO proud and thankful to the RNs that made sure they were at PCC this month to speak to the unsafe working conditions on their units! We had some great dialogue. Please take a look at the minute document linked above to see the ADOs.
A Reminder for ADOs:
ADOs are not meant to just tally short staffing needs. You must verbally object to your assignment if you feel it is unsafe. We are keeping track of short staffing separately.
Please reach out to your Charge RN, Manager, and House Supervisor about your objection. If your assignment remains unchanged, notify them of your intent to file an ADO.
We have a flyer about ADOs on your unit’s MNA board, it is also available on our website under the documents page.
If you have an ADO, please plan on attending the next Professional Conference Committee (PCC), which is the 2nd Weds of every month @ 0730. It is really important you show up and speak to your ADO form, otherwise your manager does it for you.
Please reach out to your Unit Rep as well, they can help guide you through the process!
Town Hall Meetings
Our goal is to have a monthly town hall meeting, ideally with two different meeting times. We want to be able to check in with you and find out what’s important to the membership. There is no true agenda, these are informal.
We have a town hall meeting today at noon, and tomorrow, 2/17 @ 0800. The links for these meetings will always be posted to our website.
Please continue to reach out to us if you need anything. We’re here for you. Thank you for continuing to speak up to administration and letting them know your concerns.
In solidarity,
Leslie, Rachel, Jeff, Casey, Tyler, and Alyshia
